Welcome to SkyTribe! Our community is built on the shared passion of pilots for aviation and the safety of everyone who takes to the skies. SkyTribe connects pilots worldwide to share runway condition observations, helping each other make better-informed decisions. To ensure that SkyTribe remains a trusted, welcoming, and safe space for everyone, we have established guidelines for our community. By using SkyTribe, you agree to adhere to these guidelines.
Accurate Reporting: Strip reports must be based on genuine personal observation or verified information. Post only what you have seen or what you know to be true. Runway condition data is relied upon by the aviation community, and inaccurate reports can have serious consequences.
Timely Information: Runway conditions change rapidly. When submitting a strip report, ensure it reflects current or very recent observations. If conditions may have changed since your observation, note this in your remarks.
No Fabrication: Posting false, misleading, or fabricated runway condition information is treated as a serious safety violation and will result in immediate and permanent account termination. This is our most strictly enforced guideline.
Supplement, Don't Replace: SkyTribe is a community tool, not an official source. Strip reports do not replace NOTAMs, METARs, TAFs, AIPs, or any certified pre-flight briefing service. Always use official sources for flight planning.
Respectful Communication: Treat all members with respect and kindness. Abusive, threatening, or harassing language will not be tolerated.
Constructive Feedback: Pilots have varying levels of experience. If you disagree with a strip report or comment, respond constructively. Share your own observations rather than attacking another pilot's judgment.
Personal Boundaries: Be mindful of others' privacy. Do not send unwanted messages or repeatedly engage with users who have not responded.
Authenticity: Use your real name and accurate profile information. Misrepresentation or impersonation is prohibited. You are limited to one account per person.
Helpful Contributions: Use comments and rogers to share useful information and signal agreement with observations. Comments should add value — additional context, updated conditions, or helpful details for other pilots.
Support Fellow Pilots: SkyTribe is a community built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to aviation safety. Engage with fellow members in a considerate and supportive manner.
Leaderboards: Your contributions (strip reports, airport information, comments, rogers, airports created, and closures reported) are tracked and may appear on public leaderboards visible to other authenticated users. Leaderboards are intended to celebrate and encourage community participation — do not submit low-quality or repetitive content solely to improve your ranking.
Relevant Content: Strip reports should focus on runway and airstrip conditions. Photos should show relevant conditions (runway surface, surroundings, weather indicators) rather than unrelated content.
Photo Quality: When uploading photos with strip reports (up to 5 photos, max 5 MB each), ensure they are clear, well-lit, and accurately represent conditions at the time of observation.
No Spam or Promotion: Do not post unsolicited promotional material, commercial solicitation, or spam. SkyTribe is for the aviation community, not advertising.
Respect Others' Privacy: Do not share others' personal information without their consent. This includes location details, personal photos, or contact information found through the App.
Your Information: Remember that your name, profile photo, and contributions (strip reports, comments, rogers) are visible to other authenticated users. Share only what you are comfortable being seen by the community.
Content Persistence: Strip reports, report images, comments, and rogers form part of SkyTribe's community aviation database. If you delete your account, this published content is anonymised (attributed to "Former Member" with your profile photo removed) and retained on the platform. You may delete individual content items at any time before deleting your account. See our Account Deletion Policy for details.
Photo Consent: Obtain consent from anyone identifiable in your photos before uploading them to strip reports. Be mindful of individuals who may appear in the background.
Follow Aviation Regulations: Abide by all local, national, and international aviation laws and regulations. SkyTribe is not liable for any activities conducted through the App that violate aviation regulations.
Safe Flying Practices: Promote and practise safe flying. Never use SkyTribe as a substitute for proper pre-flight planning, official briefings, or regulatory compliance.
Respect Local Rules: When reporting on airstrips and airports, be aware that some may have restrictions on photography, access, or information sharing. Respect these restrictions.
Flag Inappropriate Behaviour: If you encounter content that violates these guidelines — especially false runway information — use the in-app squawk feature to flag it. You can flag strip reports, comments, and airport edits by selecting a reason category (offensive content, spam or fraud, intellectual property, inappropriate content, or other) and optionally providing details. You may also contact us directly at [CONTACT EMAIL]. Our team reviews all flagged content and takes appropriate action.
No Abuse of Flagging: The squawk system is a safety tool. Submitting false, frivolous, or retaliatory flags may result in enforcement action against the reporter.
Stay Proactive: If you encounter problems or have suggestions for improving the community, contact our support team. We rely on our community to help maintain the quality and safety of the information shared on SkyTribe.
Consequences: Violation of these guidelines may result in warnings, content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent ban from SkyTribe.
Immediate Action: Posting false or fabricated runway condition information results in immediate and permanent account termination without prior warning. Aviation safety is non-negotiable.
Appeal Process: If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may contact our support team to request a review at [CONTACT EMAIL].
Sometimes you might encounter content that, while not breaking our guidelines, doesn't sit well with you personally. In such cases, you can choose to disengage from that conversation.
If you notice any community members violating these guidelines, especially posting inaccurate runway information, please report it to us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. Our team will review all reports. However, we rely on our community of experienced pilots to help us catch anything that may slip through.
By following these guidelines, you contribute to a trusted and supportive community for all pilots. Let's work together to make SkyTribe the best aviation community on the planet!
